Richard Kammerman
Richard Kammerman chairs our Central District and is on our Affiliations and District Leadership Committees. Previously, he was chair-elect and vice chair for the Finance Committee, and also was on the Standards and Nominating Committees.
A retired attorney, Richard most recently handled commercial transaction and litigation, working with with clients such as Chase and Bank One. Previously, he founded Kammerman, Yeakel, & Hineman, representing financial institutions in Central Texas.
While living in Austin, TX, Richard was president of Congregation Agudas Achim, founder and chair of the Aytz Chaim Foundation and chair of many other committees.
He has served on several boards, including the Jewish Community Association of Austin (aka Shalom Austin), Dell Jewish Community Development Corp., The 100 Club of Central Texas, Hospice Austin, Palmer Drug Abuse Program, ZSTC Theatre Center, Jewish Family Service of Houston, and the Executive Committee of the Weekley Family YMCA.
Richard and his wife, Sharon, are members of Houston’s Congregation Beth Yeshurun, his childhood congregation. He founded and served as first chair of the Committee for Inclusion of People with Disabilities and the Shalom Y’all Committee, and currently chairs its Security Committee. Richard is a trustee of Beth Yeshurun; is the senior gabbai for the afternoon and evening Chapel Services; and serves on the Beit Din. Recently, he was appointed chair of the YES Group (Youthful Energetic Seniors), a monthly program of schmooze, lunch, and entertainment for those over 65.
Richard’s term concludes in 2018.
