Miriam Abrams-Stark

Synagogue Consultant, Northeast District

Miriam Abrams-Stark is one of USCJ’s Synagogue Consultants. Since 2018, she has worked with the Northeast district, where she serves as the liaison between USCJ and the 84 synagogues in her district. Before working at USCJ, Miriam worked in Conservative/Masorti synagogues for 30 years, beginning with a part-time position in Portland, Maine as a USY advisor. Shortly after moving to Providence, RI, she began working as the first youth director at Temple Emanu-El. She worked there for 22 years, taking on various roles and working with youth and adults of all ages in many capacities. She especially loved her work with the youth of the community.

Miriam has a bachelor’s in sociology and Judaic studies from Binghamton University and a master’s in social work from Yeshiva University’s Wurzweiler School of Social Work, with a concentration in group work.

Miriam loves getting together with family and friends, traveling, gardening, and hiking in the woods. She is the proud mother and mother-in-law of her adult children and sons-in-law and loves her role as ‘savtah’ (grandmother).
