Mauria Atzil
Director of Child and Youth Protection
Mauria Atzil is an experienced social worker with a master’s of social work from the University of Houston and a bachelor’s degree from Brandeis University. She is a Licensed Master Social Worker in Texas and a certified Trauma-Informed Care trainer.
As the Director of Child and Youth Protection, Mauria manages child safety protocols, staff/volunteer training, and safeguarding efforts within USY and USCJ congregations. Before her current role, Mauria worked with various populations in various fields of social work, such as public housing, Head Start preschools, and rehabilitative facilities for adults on the autism spectrum.
Mauria lives in San Antonio, TX, with her husband and two dogs, and she is very active in her community. In her free time, she enjoys reading, gardening, playing in a recreational soccer league, rock climbing, trail running all over Texas, and serving as secretary on the board of directors for the Texas Fair Defense Project.
