Jason Kay

Community Director and Program Coordinator

Jason Kay is the Program Coordinator in New England, where he plans and executes programs and other experiences for youth and teens, works with teen leaders, and tries to bring the joy of Judaism to as many young people as possible. He has been working for USY since 2016 and has been involved with USY since he began Kadima (now Gesher) in sixth grade in 1993. Jason has been active in USY for most of his life, and wherever he lives, he strives to bring the joy of a Jewish group and the joy of Judaism to teens and youth. Though his career is in the sciences, he gets a lot of meaning and reward from his involvement in the Jewish community and, in particular, from USY. Jason was on the regional board in Tzafon USY when he was in high school, and as soon as he got to college, he became an advisor of the local Kadima (Gesher) then USY chapters.

Jason lives in West Hartford, CT, with his wife, Arielle, and their three kids, Ellie, Avi, and Jesse. Jason’s full-time career is as an optical engineer. Jason works for a nonprofit, The Nexterra Foundation, where he leads a research program to develop novel technology for a telescope designed to discover planets around nearby stars. Outside of his professional life, he is active in the Jewish community in many ways, including doing engagement and some programming at Beth El Temple, being on the board (a former president) of The Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Hartford, serving as an educator at the Jewish Teen Learning Connection, and running pre-Shabbat song and dance program at Schechter. Jason loves spending time with family and friends, and anything related to Walt Disney World.
