YALA is excited to partner with our Movement synagogues and Jewish organizations to help provide meaningful experiences for our young adults. Grants up to $400 will be awarded for a partnership event one time per fiscal year. If not all the monies are used at one event, the $400 can be divided and used for another event in the same fiscal year. YALA is pleased to bring you this initiative, powered by USCJ!

Thank you to the clergy, synagogues, and organizations who have already partnered with YALA this year!

Here’s what people are saying:
Shabbat Dinner – Shir Chadash Conservative Congregation, Metairie, LA
“We were able to connect with our clergy outside of shul and that was more personal and meaningful. In this manner, attendees felt comfortable to be themselves and share stories, what do they like about being Jewish, and what’s their favorite thing about Judaism. The most common answer, which was on point for the evening was community.”

Young Couples Learning Circle – Sinai Temple, Los Angeles, CA
“We definitely feel that this event had an impact on the attendees, as they were left wanting to be more involved in temple life. The conversation was engaging and there were many new couples who attended who left with new young Jewish couple friends.”

Shabbat Dinner – Congregation B’nai Tikvah, Deerfield, IL
“The YALA Shabbat Dinner had a meaningful impact on attendees and our overall young adult programming. By providing a welcoming space for young couples to connect, the event fostered community building and engagement in a relaxed, intimate setting. Many attendees expressed appreciation for the opportunity to share a Shabbat meal and enjoy a night out.”

Havdalah and Hang with the Rabbi – Bet Shira Congregation, Pinecrest, FL
“During the event attendees had lots of questions ranging from how does someone become a rabbi to asking me what my path to becoming a rabbi was. Having the event outside of a synagogue or Jewish institution created a more relaxed atmosphere.”

Hanukkah Inspired Axe Throwing, Beth Sholom B’nai Israel, Manchester, CT
“All attendees considered it a huge success and specifically due to it having been a recommended venue by one of our members, she felt heard as a member of the group.  The space was conducive to conversation and the Hanukkah spirit was felt by all.”
