Welcome to Sulam for Imagineers, a dynamic and engaging cohort program crafted specifically for synagogue leaders eager to infuse creativity and innovative thinking into their communities! This inspiring initiative, brought to you by USCJ, is dedicated to empowering congregations to flourish through cutting-edge leadership practices.

The brainchild of Ben Vorspan, whose powerful book served as the foundation for this program, Sulam for Imagineers was born from a deep desire to share transformative ideas. Linda Sussman, USCJ’s Director of Leadership Development, beautifully captured the essence of this venture by stating, “We were so inspired by his insights that we knew we had to create a curriculum to share them with our community leaders!”

Recognizing the immense potential these ideas hold, USCJ developed a thoughtfully structured curriculum designed to encourage synagogue leaders to break free from the conventional and embrace fresh, innovative approaches to communal leadership.

“If we want our congregations to thrive, we need to nurture them with creativity and enthusiasm,” Linda emphasized. She expressed excitement about how this program embodies USCJ’s strategic goal of fostering vibrant, thriving communities. It’s about enriching the synagogue experience for everyone involved!

The inaugural cohort of Sulam for Imagineers has already made waves, and now you have the incredible opportunity to join this transformative journey! As a participant, you will acquire invaluable tools to reimagine synagogue leadership and cultivate a dynamic, innovative community. This isn’t just another educational experience—it’s a chance to truly revolutionize your approach to leadership.

Rabbi J.B. Sacks from Congregation Beth Shalom in Palm Desert, California, beautifully articulated the essence of Sulam for Imagineers: “It’s not merely about solving a problem with a program; it’s about examining everything we do through an Imagineering lens. For our congregation, it’s truly about transforming our culture into one that celebrates imagination.”

His enthusiasm for the program reflects the shift it encourages—a transition away from rigid traditions and towards a culture brimming with creativity and innovation.

In a recent information session, Linda Sussman and Ben Vorspan shared the exciting components of Sulam for Imagineers, highlighting practical tools and stimulating frameworks that activate innovative thinking.

“We’re harmonizing tradition with contemporary leadership strategies,” Linda shared. “This empowers synagogue leaders to create vibrant and engaging environments that resonate with today’s community needs.”

Participants can look forward to delving into methodologies that promote creative problem-solving, enhance community engagement, and tap into the unique strengths of their congregations.

“It’s about envisioning what’s possible and having the courage to bring those visions to life,” said Ben.

Sulam for Imagineers transcends being just a leadership program; it embodies a pioneering movement towards cultivating energetic, future-focused synagogue communities. By equipping leaders with the mindset and skills they need, this initiative sets the stage for sustainable innovation in Jewish community life. As Linda so aptly summed it up, “We want our leaders to feel empowered to drive meaningful change.”
