Meet the New USCJ President: Eliot Meadow

Eliot Meadow brings a lifetime of passion for the Conservative/Masorti movement to his new role as International President of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism.

“I’m a product of the Movement in every sense,” said Eliot in his inauguration talk at the General Assembly last month. “I believe deeply in the USCJ mission, our values, and in the value we bring to Jewish life – here in North America and throughout the world.”

Eliot is a proud graduate of Solomon Schechter Day School (as are both of his daughters); a lifelong member of the Ramah community as a camper, counselor, staff spouse, and parent; and a devoted USY alum and former chapter advisor. He often shares that USY helped shape the person and leader he is today.

Eliot has been a member of six USCJ-affiliated synagogues and previously served as a synagogue president, giving him a deep appreciation for the diversity and vitality of our communities.

“And through those experiences, I came to understand something essential about the Conservative/Masorti movement,” Eliot said. “That our strength lies not in uniformity, but in unity. That our communities thrive not because we are all the same, but because we are unique, and yet we share the same purpose.”

As President, Eliot is committed to partnership, listening, and continuous improvement. He is focused on supporting synagogues, building community across North America, investing in the next generation of leaders, and helping USCJ remain nimble, responsive, and innovative as our communities evolve. Above all, he is honored to serve klal Yisrael and to help shape the next chapter of our movement—together.
