Solomon Schechter Awards
The Solomon Schechter Awards recognize extraordinary congregation achievement in various aspects of synagogue life. Given biennially at USCJ’s convention, they shine a light on programs and initiatives that shape an authentic and dynamic Judaism.
We’ve given the awards – named for our founder, Dr. Solomon Schechter – to hundreds of congregations since their 1949 debut.
Dr. Schechter’s efforts emphasized the importance of meaningful, dynamic congregation activity and are reflected in USCJ’s mission of strengthening synagogue. We’re delighted to continue this program in appreciation of Dr. Schechter’s vision, and with great respect for Jewish communities that live up to his ideals. We applaud all who’ve submitted entries for consideration in the Solomon Schechter Awards, as well as any congregation that strives for excellence.
