Spotlight On: Rabbi Jacob Blumenthal

As we enter 2022, my goal is that the deepening alignment of the Rabbinical Assembly and USCJ will allow us to engage and empower more people than ever.  We will focus on relationship building and empowered Jewish experiences within synagogues, among teens, with new people not connected with our congregations, and through strengthening our lay leaders, professionals, and clergy.  Embracing the balance between tradition and modernity in order to lay foundations for future generations is what makes Conservative/Masorti Judaism unique and meaningful.

A personal fun fact: This is actually my second time working for USCJ — the first was right out of college when I served as USY Seaboard regional director and then as an assistant international director in the New York central office.  As a teen and a young adult, USY was the most powerful influence on my Jewish journey and on my approach to leadership.

Involvement with USCJ and any level or with any of our programs (Nativ, USY) creates a strong basis for leadership. I am grateful for this foundation. As was the case when I was a youth professional, while I might bring some inspiration or special knowledge to the table, my most important accomplishment continues to be seeing others grow in knowledge, form meaningful and rewarding relationships, and deepen commitments to Judaism, Jewish life, and the Jewish people.

Our Conservative/Masorti movement is blessed with outstanding communities, wonderful leaders, and meaningful traditions.  Together we will connect and empower our current and future generations to “Seek Meaning together.”
