HR Intern

USCJ seeks a Human Resources volunteer intern eager to be mentored by the Sr. Director of Human Resources and the HR/Employee Engagement Coordinator. We will provide a learning experience in the Human Resources discipline of a non-profit organization. The HR Intern will directly assist the Human Resources Department with a range of projects related to HR compliance, recruiting, onboarding/orientation, associate benefits, and associate relations. This intern will contribute to the accomplishment of Human Resources practices and objectives that promote our commitment to building a knowledgeable, passionate, and diverse workforce dedicated to the cause of advancing a dynamic and authentic Conservative Judaism.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop an understanding of what it means to provide first-class customer service to employees, consultants, and volunteers and serve as a resource for HR related questions
  • Support the execution of administrative systems and procedures to perform HR functions
  • Engage and implement the maintenance of FT and PT human resource files in accordance with legal requirements, company policies and procedures; initiate yearly audits and utilize findings or process improvements
  • Learn about talent acquisition best practices, such as timely maintenance, updating, and posting of information to appropriate sites or department, such as job boards and employment sites
  • Develop an understanding of the workings of an HRIS and its maintenance
  • Assist the HR/Employee Engagement Coordinator in multiple employee engagement initiatives, projects, and events
  • Acquire the knowledge of what it means to prioritize workload functions in order to meet the needs and objectives of a corporate office environment

Position Requirements:

  • Undergrad students, graduate students, and experienced professionals will be considered
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience working with Google Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills required
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks independently
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Be willing to learn about office practices of a religious nature, such as special food and dietary requirements as it relates to the position and function of this internship
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to recognize opportunity within each challenge

Training Provided:

You will work alongside the HR/Employee Engagement Coordinator who will mentor you during your time at USCJ. This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, the intern will learn how to take skills he or she may have acquired in school related courses and apply them in a professional setting.

Length of Appointment:

3 months

Time Commitment:

Two days per week for approximately 4 – 5 hours each day, Monday through Friday. You will be presented with the opportunity to choose to help with and attend special events and meetings that may require additional time.

Reimbursement:
