Advice on Environmental Issues by Tali and Inna
DEAR TALI
Dear Tali,
My friend and I drive to work every day in a separate car to the
same building , how can my car effect the enviroment?
- Going on wheels
Dear Going on wheels,
Maybe instead of driving every where, you can walk instead!!!!
And since you and your friends you and your friends work in the same
building and you all drive in separate cars maybe you can car pool.
Did you know " just burning one gallon of gasoline produces 20
pounds of carbon dioxide, the chief of Global Warming" says Save Our
Planet. Global Warming is when we put so much chemicals, such as
fuel in to the air, we have created a whole in the ozone layer which
protects us from the sun's strong rays. And soon we will not be able
to live from the heat. We can try to prevent Global warming by you
can either buy or borrow a fuel efficient car, or you can buy or
borrow and electric car.
Dear Tali,
I was wondering if you could tell me a few ways of conserving
water.
Drowning in Water
Dear Drowning in Water,
Some ways to conserve water are to take short showers, don't
leave the water running if you are not using water, and don't take
more water to drink if your not going to drink all of the water.
Dear Tali,
Someone told me the other day that if we don't stop throwing away
so much garbage our backyards are going too become garbage dumps!
What can I do to stop throwing away so much?
-Full of Garbage
Dear Full of Garbage,
To help prevent throwing away so much you can either reuse, it
reduce, it or recycle. For example, let's say you bring plastic
silverware to school each day and when you are finished you throw it
away, instead of throwing it away you can wash it off and save it for
the next time you are going to use it, reuse it! Let's say you use a
whole roll of aluminum foil each week. Instead of using so much foil
you can use less foil, reduce it. Last let's say that you always
throw out scrap paper and use new paper every time. Instead of
throwing it away you can recycle it.
Dear Tali,
If everyone keeps on cutting down the trees what is going to
happen to our habitat?
-Mrs. Habitat
Dear Mrs. Habitat,
If everyone keeps on cutting down all the trees all that was held
in place by the trees roots will roll down into our rivers, and all
of our animals won't have a place to live, and soon all of our
animals will die because of the food chain and we will die because
the trees give us oxygen.
Dear Tali,
I want to recycle but the area that I live doesn't pick up
recycling. Where can I go to get my recycling done?
-Mr. Recycle
Dear Mr. Recycle,
You can bring all of your recycling to a recycling center near
where you live, so you can still recycle even if they don't pick it
up near you!
Dear Tali,
I always use so much paper each day during school, for homework,
and more. What can I do to stop using so much paper?
-Waster of Paper
Dear Waster of Paper,
Instead of taking a new sheet of paper each time you run out of
room you can use the back of the paper. Another way is to recycle
your paper after you are done using it by doing this you are reusing
the paper. A final way to conserve paper is to buy recycled paper.
By doing this you are saving a lot of paper and the trees too!
DEAR INNA
Dear Inna,
My name is Mr. Electron. I have a question for you. I have a
very large family. I have three sons and two daughters and we all are
using a lot of electricity, and our electricity bill is very high. So
my question to you is how can we reduce the amount of electricity we
use?
Mr. Electron
Dear Mr. Electron,
The answer to your question is very simple. One way for your
family to stop using so much electricity is instead of watching TV
every day and night you and your family can play games like Monopoly
or something else. Another way to stop using so much electricity is
to make sure you turn off the lights when you leave a room.Another
idea is to every month look at your machine that shows how much
electricity you used and every month try to decrease the amount of
electricity you used.
Inna
Dear Inna,
Hi, my name is Mrs. Sap and I am very concerned that we don't
have enough forests in our country. I am very scared that very soon
the forests will disappear forever and we won't have any trees
anymore. Please give me a suggestion on how I can prevent that from
happening.
Mrs. Sap
Dear Mrs. Sap,
I do have a suggestion for you. One way that you can prevent
that from happening is you and your friends can form a club and then
your group can plant trees all around the city.Another way is you can
reuse paper. For example, you can use both sides of the paper instead
of one side. A third way is to recycle paper.
Inna
Dear Inna,
Hello, my name is Mr. Trashenwater and I have a really big
problem and I was hoping that you could help me with it. See, I live
next to a lake and lately I was noticing that the lake was getting
dirtier and dirtier. My question to you is how can I stop this
problem.
Mr. Trashenwater
Dear Mr.Trashenwater,
I do have a suggestion for you. One way that you can stop that
is you could put signs that say "don't litter, save the lake "near
the lake.A lot of rivers and oceans are dirty because of people throw
their garbage in there. Also the animals in the water can get
poisoned because of the garbage in the water.
Inna
Dear Inna,
Hi ,my name is Ms. Landwitrash and I have a really big
problem and I was hoping that you can help me with it. See I live
in a big city, Chicago. In my city there is a lot of trash, and so my
question to you is how can I help to clean this trash up?
Ms.
Landwitrash
Dear Ms. Landwitrash,
I do have a very good suggestion for you. One thing you can do
is go to the mayor of your city and ask him to hold a contest in your
city: who ever can pick up the most trash in one month or a year will
win the contest will get a trophy or a medal or something else.
Another idea is that you can come to a school and talk with students
about garbage and then the students can tell their parents about what
they learned in school and then the parents can get involved. The
parents will get involved by also starting to pick up the garbage and
also stop littering.
