Notes from our President

A number of initiatives that were just mentioned over the High Holidays and in last month’s Megillah are happening sooner than anticipated.

At the last Board meeting, Morris Elstein proposed a way to replace our outdated daily prayer books with new,  gender neutral Siddurim.  Several board members answered the request and the books are on their way to Temple Emanuel. Please read the message from Morris in this Megillah to find an easy way you can participate.

The new computer lab is much closer to existence as two donors have stepped forward with most generous and cooperative contributions.  We have preliminary quotes and rough room layouts already, so this project should be completed in the coming months.

And last but not least is an item that wasn’t at the top of our wish list, but was still quite important. George Newman, a past officer at Temple Emanuel, is in declining heath at Beth Shalom Home.  His wife Jacqueline contacted the Temple six weeks ago about a donation some friends wanted to make in his honor.  A most generous check for $5,000 was received and earmarked to replace the Temple Emanuel sign.

I would like to thank the many people who have helped us move forward over the last several months.

Your President,

Wayne Richmon
