COURSE 6: HELPING NON-CONSERVATIVE TEACHERS TEACH CONSERVATIVE STUDENTS
INSTRUCTOR: RABBI RON ISAACS, rabbi, educator, lecturer and author
Last year, we began this dialog with principals. Now we want to dialog with our teachers. There are numerous teachers serving Conservative schools who are not products of the Conservative movement. Others grew up in the movement but have limited knowledge of its mission and core beliefs. These situations may result in potential conflict between the goals of the school and the personal beliefs of the teacher. While we welcome the chance for our students to meet Jews of all kinds, we need to instruct our teachers on the differences between our movement and their personal beliefs and support their efforts in utilizing this information in our classes. Rabbi Isaacs will introduce ideology and will offer participants the opportunity to present issues and to brainstorm solutions.

COURSE 7: INFUSING PRESCHOOL CLASSROOMS WITH JEWISH VALUES
INSTRUCTOR: JANICE JUMBO, Veteran teacher and consultant
What about our preschool classrooms lets all who enter it know that this is a Jewish program? Is there an Israeli flag or a Shabbat set in the house corner? Are there kipot in the dress-up corner and on the snack table? Do we bring God into our discussions when we see something extraordinary in nature? Do we sing Jewish songs, use a Hebrew greeting when the children enter the room? Janice, a very creative and innovative teacher, has been teaching nursery school Jewishly for many years. Participants in their workshop will leave with many ideas they will feel comfortable adding to their daily routine. You might want to bring a tape recorder!
