COURSE 2: ENHANCING THE SPIRITUALITY OF YOUNG CHILDREN
INSTRUCTOR: DR. SHOSHANA SILBERMAN, consultant to ACAJE, Phila., & NJ Region USCJ
From birth, children try to make sense of the world around them. As they discover patterns in nature (such as, that all
leaves of a particular tree are the same), they are curious about who is "in charge" of setting the order. While young children
are not able to articulate personal prayer yet, they are equipped to LISTEN. So, if prayer is a conversation with
God, we can start with God's side of the conversation, showing them the wonders of God, how good it is to sing about
God, how God wants us to treat each other--and we can help them establish a REASON to pray, to initiate their own
conversations.

COURSE 5: MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES
INSTRUCTOR; SUZI ADELSON WAINER, director of professional practice at Metrowest
How do students learn best? It depends! By your own school experience, you would think that all students use the same
skills to integrate knowledge. Howard Gardner proved that no everyone uses the same integration process and that there
are, in fact eight different ways that student learn, only one of which includes the cognitive skills needed for math and
science. Suzi will show participants how to use Gardner's discovery to get beyond the cognitive skills so that we can
reach ALL of our students so you can decide how to structure your lessons to meet all the intelligences in your classroom.
