Rabbi Yosi Gordon became our rabbi in 1990,
for what was originally supposed to have been a 2 year term. As fortune has it, we have been reaping the benefits of his
guidance ever since. During his tenure here, Yosi was an invaluable teacher of our community's children and adults, including
the Melton Mini-School class.
.
Yosi teaches Tanakh, Rabbinic Literature and Hebrew Literature at the Midrasha of the Talmud Torah of St. Paul, and at the
Twin Cities Jewish Middle School. In addition, he has taught
at the University of Minnesota, Hamline University, and St. Olaf College. Yosi is a graduate of the University
of Wisconsin, where he majored in Hebrew Language and Philosophy, and has his rabbinic ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary. He completed the course work for a Ph.D. in second language instruction at the University
of Minnesota and is the author of several articles on Jewish education and texts on Hebrew Language Instruction and Bible, especially for
children, notably through Torah Aura Productions. Yosi received a Covenant
Award in Jewish education for the year 2000. He enjoys being the Chief Rabbi of the Chippewa Valley.
As a result of his increased responsibilities at the Talmud Torah of St. Paul, as well as for other personal reasons, Rabbi Gordon has announced his resignation as Chief Rabbi of the Chippewa Valley after 17 years of service, effective at the end of 5768. He will be dearly missed.
Much more information can be found about Yosi's many accomplishments and activities by visiting
Camp Ramah's website. He can be contacted
via email.
