College Juniors, Seniors & Graduate Students … Discover Jerusalem!
The Conservative Yeshiva of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism and Hadassah College Jerusalem are delighted to announce the offering of Discover Jerusalem, an accredited semester for North American college or university students, from January to May 2009.

The Discover Jerusalem Semester is intended for college juniors, seniors and graduate students with an interest in Judaism, religious texts, Middle East studies, history, archeology, or just the chance for a unique semester of study of Jewish text and context, in the heart of Jerusalem.

The Conservative Yeshiva and Hadassah College Jerusalem will each offer students what it does best: The Conservative Yeshiva will expose the students to the classic texts of Judaism - Talmud, Midrash and Halacha - in the original Hebrew/Aramaic, as Jews have studied them for centuries, open equally to men and women, and to the questions raised by scholarship and modernity.

Hadassah College Jerusalem will present Jerusalem as a microcosm of the Jewish People and of the Middle East - Tourism vs. Pilgrimage: City, Citizens, Sightseers, and the Environment; Photographing a Place, a People, a Past; and Water in Jerusalem: From Antiquity to the Present.

The Yeshiva's classes will take place in its beautiful Epstein-Geller-David Beit Midrash at the Fuchsberg Center right off King George Street and Hadassah College at its lovely old/new campus near Zion Square and in the streets and alleyways of Jerusalem. This combination of classes will offer students a memorable opportunity to experience Judaism and Israel and to meet Israelis while living in Jerusalem.

The Discover Jerusalem Semester is a semester abroad like none other being offered. The program will provide credit in accordance with the requirements of each student's college. The students will be part of the warm traditional community of the Conservative Yeshiva, taking part in all its activities, in and outside the classroom (shabbatonim, trips, etc). The semester is part of the Conservative Yeshiva's MASA-approved year program, so students may apply for the financial aid MASA offers.

Further information is available at www.JerusalemSemester.org or send an email to yeshiva@uscj.org.

Hadassah College Jerusalem is supported and funded by Hadassah, the Women's Zionist Organization of America.

The Conservative Yeshiva, a project of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, is also supported by the Jewish Agency and MASA, and under the academic auspices of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America.
