EDUCATION - EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMS

We tailor a variety of programs to introduce preschoolers and their families to the joys of life at Congregation Beth El. Several Friday evenings a year families with young children are invited to a Shabbat dinner and children's service. These evenings are usually centered around weekly Torah portions or holidays.

All classes are taught by preschool director Sheila May, who has been in the field of Early Childhood Education for over twenty years. She has a Masters Degree in Special Education and has been a preschool teacher and director in New Haven, Woodbridge and Bridgeport. Sheila May can be contacted at sheiladmay@yahoo.com or call 203-374-5544.

Our early childhood programs include:

K'TANIM PRESCHOOL
Two Year Old Class - Tuesday and Thursday, 9:00-11:30 AM (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM beginning December 2009)
Three Year Old Class - 3, 4 or 5 days, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Optional lunch program 12:00 - 1:00 PM
Four-Year-Old Class - Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Optional lunch program 12:00 - 1:00 PM

Emphasis is placed on the total development of each child, building a solid foundation for learning and fostering a positive self-image. We encourage curiosity, creativity, independence, socialization skills and intellectual growth, while instilling a love of and a basic understanding of Judaism. We strive to help the children gain a deeper sense of their Jewish identity.
