5769 2008/2009 Calendar - Celebrating Israel at 60
Essays about Israel at 60 and color photographs of stained-glass windows from North American synagogues affiliated with United Synagogue are on display in our 5769/2008-2009 caledar.
Above the 13 months shown in the calendar – which goes from September 2008 to September 2009 – you will find both photographs and essays. This year’s essays look at the state of Israel at 60. Each is written by a Conservative/Masorti Jew who made aliyah and now lives in the Jewish state. The photographs show some of the range of stained glass on display in synagogues across the continent.
United Synagogue’s international president, Dr. Ray Goldstein, said, “At the same time, this lovely calendar connects us both to our synagogues in North America and to fellow Conservative/Masorti Jews in Israel. It showcases both stained glass from 13 of the hundreds of beautiful Conservative synagogues across this continent and our deep connection with the state of Israel as it turns 60.”
Once again, the calendar includes candle-lighting times for cities across North America and for Jerusalem and the dates of Jewish holidays; lists the Shabbat Torah readings on both the annual and the triennial cycle, and provides resource information about the Fuchsberg Jerusalem Center, the Masorti movement, and Mercaz.
To order a copy of the 8" x 10" spiral-bound calendar, call 866-5-SHALOM. The suggested minimum contribution is $25. For orders of 25 or more calendars, the suggested minimum contribution is $5 per calendar.
Learn how to submit a photograph of your own United Synagogue-affiliated congregation to the calendar art contest for next year.
