Professional Development, Training, Support and Costs

Welcome to Project Etgar (for Educational Directors)

This session, designed for educational directors of schools who have been accepted into Project Etgar, will provide an opportunity for each participant to meet the Project Etgar staff, interact with Educational Directors from other Etgar schools, and familiarize him/herself with Project Etgar materials. Topics of discussion will include strategies for recruiting teachers, suggestions for implementing the curriculum, and options for communicating with parents. Attendance at this meeting is required: it will focus upon the first critical steps of getting your school “Etgar Ready.”

Project Etgar Summer Training

Educational Directors

Educational Director training lasts for 3.5 days.

Day 1 focuses on the educational director and the management of Project Etgar. Etgar Teacher Educators (ETEs) lead Educational Director training.

Day 2 & 3 Teachers join with their Directors. See “Teachers” below.

Day 4 (1/2 day session) Educational directors meet with their peers and ETEs to work on coaching skills, curriculum, and implementation.

Location Jewish Theological Seminary, 3080 Broadway, New York, NY
Fee $600, includes teacher’s materials (i.e. teacher’s guide, posters, CDs, DVDs) and most meals

Teachers

In this training session, teachers are introduced to Project Etgar. They have an opportunity to work with both the materials and their colleagues. The sessions are led by Project Etgar Curriculum Developers and Etgar Teacher Educators (ETEs). Participation of all directors and teachers allows for collaborative learning and helps build a strong Synagogue/Project Etgar team.

Fee $400 per teacher teachers materials (i.e. teacher’s guide, posters, CDs, DVDs) and meals

Etgar Teacher Educator (ETE) Support

Each participating school will be assigned an Etgar teacher educator. During the school year, the ETE will be in regular communication with directors and teachers, both providing guidance and support and monitoring Etgar. Feedback from schools is important to the successful development of this program.

Costs
Educational Director Training $600 per director
Teacher Training $400 per teacher
Student materials $50 per student

Schools are responsible for all travel/hotel costs associated with training.
