Missionaries and Cults (1993)
WHEREAS, on college campuses and in neighborhoods throughout this continent, missionaries vigorously attempt to proselytize Jews to various cults and other religions; and
WHEREAS, THE UNITED SYNAGOGUE OF CONSERVATIVE JUDAISM has previously recognized the dangers, which cults and other religious groups, such as Jews for Jesus, the Church of Scientology and the Unification Church, pose to unaware Jewish people, and that, a first line of our defense is a well-educated and articulate laity.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that THE UNITED SYNAGOGUE OF CONSERVATIVE JUDAISM, through its various departments, continue to establish and enhance ongoing programs designed to educate all members of affiliated congregations in order to stem the vigorous efforts of cults and missionaries that reduce the numbers of the Jewish People; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that THE UNITED SYNAGOGUE OF CONSERVATIVE JUDAISM calls upon its affiliated congregations to establish properly funded and directed family education programs to combat the rise of cults and missionaries.
