Economic Assistance to Israel (1993)
WHEREAS, the State of Israel continues to be the sole democracy of the Middle East; and
WHEREAS, from the very birth of the State of Israel in 1948, harmonious ties have existed between its people and the people of the United States and Canada; and
WHEREAS, the State of Israel has consistently, affirmatively, and courageously exhibited its staunch support for the general and security interests of the United States and Canada in the troubled region of the Middle East; and
WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States has publicly and consistently voiced support for the economic development of the State of Israel as well as absorption of Russian, Ethiopian and other refugees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that THE UNITED SYNAGOGUE OF CONSERVATIVE JUDAISM opposes any reduction in the present level of economic, humanitarian and military aid from the United States to the State of Israel; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that THE UNITED SYNAGOGUE OF CONSERVATIVE JUDAISM calls upon President Clinton and his administration and Prime Minister Jean Chretian and his administration to continue the historic friendship that, from 1948 until the present time, has been the essence if the relationship between the State of Israel and the United States and Canada.
